Hit ITV back!!!

QPR1st calls on all members to strike a blow against ITV, whose ITV2 company reneged on the Nationwide League TV deal. Many Nationwide clubs, including QPR, have suffered losses of income as a result of ITV2’s action. QPR’s chairman, along with the 71 other Nationwide League chairs, will be demonstrating against their treatment by ITV July 10th and your committee feels they deserve our support. We think that the only way to bring home to ITV’s bosses just how badly ITV2’s collapse has affected our team is to hit them where it will clearly hurt most, the wallet.

At 7.30 tomorrow, wherever you are, you will almost certainly be watching the England-Brazil game. If you’re at home, please boycott the ITV showing of the match and tune in to BBC 1. If you’re at work or in the pub, please ask for BBC to be selected.

How is that going to hurt ITV? Through the ratings. If advertisers see that ITV has nobody watching, they will cut their activity, which means ITV earns less.

But there is more that you can do. Hit the advertisers for tomorrow’s game. The companies that these ads promote are indirectly supporting ITV2’s welching by continuing to advertise on ITV. We want them to understand that such support, however unintentional, is causing our clubs pain. We’ve started
with companies that are trying to attract football supporters, but we will widen our scope if the response from you and from our victims is what we expect.

QPR1st calls on its members to avoid buying, or if you’re already subscribed using, the following products/companies which will be advertising heavily during tomorrow’s game:

British Telecom
Guinness, including Harp lager
Rowntrees Kitkat/Yorkie Bar
John Smiths Bitter
WKD drinks
JJB Sports

Please, if enough of us forgo just one item, we will have an impact.
