The Leaked Memo 2

As reported yesterday, QPR 1st contacted the club’s board with regard to the memo recently leaked on an unofficial website.

Yesterday afternoon, our Chairman Justin Pieris, called David Davies to remind him we were in receipt of the document, to try and discuss some of the serious issues raised, and to discuss possible ways that the Trust might help the club to mitigate against some of the scenarios.

Mr Davies’ response was to suggest that the Trust should speak to the clubs’ lawyers, based on the fact that we are in possession of a copy of the memo (which was sent anonymously to the Trust).

It is fair to say that QPR 1st’s Committee was somewhat surprised and angered at this development, given that we had chosen to consult with QPR’s board about the memo rather than publish the information ourselves.

Nonetheless, QPR 1st consulted it’s legal advisors, who indicated that in their view the Trust has no case to answer.

Justin subsequently directly contacted QPR’s solicitor and after he had made the Trust’s position crystal clear, the solicitor also confirmed that the Trust has absolutely no case to answer.

Now that some of these issues are in the public arena, we will be writing directly to Mr Davies to air the legitimate concerns of our members about their club. Mr Davies has already indicated that he will not reply, we urge him to reconsider.

Given the financial circumstances of the club, it would have been far wiser for Mr Davies to have been less belligerent with the Trust and to not have wasted the scarce resources of the club on unnecessary solicitors fees.
